Why Malay don't like dog?

Being friends with many non-Muslim has its own merit. Being on the different sides of them, I have the opportunity in blending in with their culture, ways of thinking and values. However, being different also means that I would always need to be on my toe. They would ask me numerous questions regarding Islam. At times, they would asked questions that I have long forgotten the reasons or never look at it at different perspectives.

I would like to share their top question:
Drum rolls pls...
The million dollar question is WHY MALAY DON'T LIKE DOG??

Noted that they ask Malay and not Muslim..simply because to them, a Malay=Islam..
=)
I would put this question in the 1st category-Long forgotten reason.
Therefore, my mission tonight is to search the answer and hopefully will come out with solid but understandable reason.
